Lakeside Academy was founded in 2001 by merging two community high schools in Lachine; Bishop-Whelan High School and Lachine High School.

Lakeside Academy has a very culturally, ethnically and socioeconomically diverse population and offers a variety of academic and extra-curricular activities to meet the needs of all its students.

MISSION

Lakeside Academy believes students should be prepared academically and socially to be lifelong learners.  Students will receive a holistic education through the IB Framework for teaching and responsible citizenship, thereby developing skills to equip them for a rapidly changing future and constantly evolving world.

Student life is enriched through a variety of social and extracurricular activities that complement ad further develop skills and international mindedness learned in the class.

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.  To this end, the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

VISION

Lakeside Academy will provide a nurturing environment where students take an active and engaged role in their own education. A wide variety of experiences, both in and out of the classroom, will foster cooperation and responsibility to the school, the community and the planet.
